Hi,

Anyone here who knows which DVD player (brand) can play pirated DVD/VCD well ? Meaning any players that are not sensitive and does not easily give you a 'disc error' message. Philips ? Panasonic ? JVC ? Toba ? GC ? Any idea ? Please help. Thank you.

Regards,
Chris

i suggest u tried philips new model... they have a money back guarantee's promotion if you happen to have any disc that you cant played with the player ( the cd must be in a good condition regardless an original disc or pirated one). Valid within 2 weeks from the date you purchased it.

I thought Pioneer would be good but mine seems to heat up a lot and after an hour of playing, there is skipping and even freezes up!

I'm going to get a fan installed and hope that helps... :(

I also heard that Sony players are sensitive to poorer quality pirated DVDs/VCDs...

Whether you are or you're not refering to DVDROM... Pioneer is still the best. Both for DVD players and DVDroms.

Samsung DVD players can play all DVDs and VCDs. Just put in in any disc, it will play them..no discrimination for any type of discs..

today carrefour offer dvd player at RM168 ... i believe this extremely cheap dvd player should be able to read any DVD out there ... why spend so much on branded dvd player which is also made in china ... when you can buy 3 to 4 of this type from carrefour for the same price as the branded ... lolz

Unless you want progressive scan...

BTW, anyone has those Dragon JVC players? How about those? Any good? Really can play any disc?

My player very funny one, plays foran hour and then starts to stutter and freeze! Almost expect to see a blue screen! :D

I agree...

I notice that some China models now come with a fan in the back of the player, even with a separate switch to turn on the fan!

I CHECKED WITH ONE OF THOSE REPAIR SHOPS AND THEY SAID THEY CAN INSTALL A FAN ON MY PLAYER. Oops, sorry, accidentally hit the CAPs key... :o

My personal opinion about DVD player... we are talking about technologies and the performances.
Myself have 2 DVD players and will keep on upgrading from time to time. Its not recomended for you to get a cheap brand one because the quality is so much so much different.
We spend so much money buying DVD .. the reason is?? well... of course better quality ...audio and video right? Therefore, we need a better player rather than the one sold at Carrefour.

By the way, I can played my movies using my player continuesly for more than 6 hours but never have any problem so far.

So what players do you have?

I have a Pioneer entry-level model (355K or something like that) and a Made in China named Weige (from Carrefour) and both will heat up and start to stutter and freeze after an hour continuous play, even with air-con on!

Both feel hot, especially about where the mobo is... :(

I have a Sony, Pretty old now, and a Zapporo bought from Makro. Both of them can run 6 hr non stopp and no sign of any shutter.

tigadee, are your players in a cabinet ? My Sony is and when in use, I usually leave the door open. I notice the cabinet gets very hot if I leave teh door close.

try improving the ventilation of the cabinet. eg, like putting a fan at the back to draw the air out. try to mount the fan high. A 5" 240VAC type connected to the player with a door switch. should do the trick.

I've always wanted to buy the Philips 627K which is so slim. But the only problem is that it doesn't play DVD-R / DVD-RW discs, which will inconvenient me.
