View Full Version : Announcement: T610 Users
Hello fella T610 users
Just an annoucement to tell everybody that the new R3C firmware is available for upgrade at any authourized service centre
Here's a brief improvement over the feature( from what i heard)
The older firmware has some memory allocation problems, ie when u snapshoot with ur built in camera, the memory consumed in your 2 MB SE T610 will be around 50-60kb whereas when u send the picture to your computer or other symbian phones, u can get to know that the actual size is only around 20kb. Or when u download or send any images from ur comp to your T610 thru IR/Bluetooth, u will find that it consumes around 3 times the memory of the actual picture.
Now the R3C firmware corrects these, so that T610 users can fit at around 3 times more of images into your phone with the same memory capacity
Anyway that is what i heard la, will be upgrading my firmware tomorrow
So if there's any more improvement, will let ya guys know
OK, just upgraded my T610's firmware from R1L to R3C_004 just now, here's a brief summary of what i'd found
-The image captured by the built in camera at a resolution of 352x288(L) is around 14-25kb which is a great improvement over the previous firmware averaging around 55-70kb per pic, therefore memory allocation problem of the phone is solved, same quality picture but less consumption of memory in the phone
-However, picture modified via pc/laptop and sent to the phone remains unchanged, still takes up quite a lot of memory compared to the same pic if placed inside another nokia phone or laptops
-Digital viewfinder refresh rate i find that it is a little bit faster and not so much blurring effect when using the screen as a viewfinder
That's what i found so far
So this upgrade is a must for all T610 users, assuming u have all 2MB memory freed in your T610, u can just capture around 40-50 images with the camera with the previous firmware, but now u can capture around 100-120 images with the newest firmware
Good luck
p/s: upgrade is free at any authourised sony ericsson service centre if your T610 is warrantied by Southall, remember to bring your warranty card along
all the better...i'll make a note when i buy my new 610
the good one in sonyericsson is T610 ah?
*hiccups*
yea gua, but then there's another new released Sony Ericsson Z600 which is comparable to the T610
both have their advantages
Z600 screen is 65k TFD, colour of the screen is more vivid and clear in the expense of faster battery consumption
the T610 screen is 65k STN, less vivid colour screen, more ghosting effect, but better battery life
other specs are more or less the same, have to test the Z600 out before making further comments
hoho then should consider the battery life!
My standard T610 battery last me like 4 or 5 days of use.... (24 hrs)
I'm not heavy user, but still.....
wow
isnt 4 or 5 days 24 hours stamina good enuff?
Mine last for 2 days coz i'm quite a heavy user
yalo colour screen lagi still not enough ah?
had the opportunity to try he Z200 and Z600 today
Personally i dun like the Z600, very bulky like hamburger..keke....and then when the screen fully opened, the screen is a level lower than the keypad
the Z200 however does not have a camera and bluetooth, but nice in shape and touch, good low end colour screen model
Anyway apart from the TFD and STN screen differences between the Z600 and T610, i couldnt find any other differences from my observation today
:>
What I actually tried to say is, that if a dual scan screen phone already can last 4 or 5 days for me, then a TFT phone will at least be able to last me 3 or 4 days, which is still more than enough....
But I oredi got a T610 oredi and I'm not even fully utilizing it..... hais......
does the STN screen (as I believe) sucks up less power than a TFT?
ceo, defininitely, TFT at least suck up twice as fast as the STN, as for the TFD, both battery consumption and battery consumption is between the previous TFT and STN
