I will always stick to candy bar phones.
Flip phones kind of flimsy, especially the connecting cable there.

both, as long it's thin and light.

A bar phone is much more convenient as you can access the phone with out opening/sliding the housing. But the screen is much more exposed thus the screen wear and tear (scratches; marks) will be much faster and obvious (thanks screen protectors; it’s not much of a problem).

A non bar phone (flip, sliding, twist, etc), is cool (like 8910/8850/) or usual flip (7200, 6170)...But the life of the hinge is short. Well, shorter that you expect. The least, it wont be smooth as it was when new, and/or it gets loose<may fall off>.
But the other advantage of flip phones (ones with outer mini display) is that the battery life is much longer. I’m using 6170 which is equipped with the mini display and i find the battery life lasts much longer (forget the annoying fact that there's neither a MMC slot nor Bluetooth).

So it looks like the it's pretty equal eh? It seems that ladies like the flip phones as to men but i dun mean men cannot use them hor?
Like some of you said , the flip are more fragile compared to bar ones.
Well, thanks for sharing and more comments are welcome.

The hinge is nothing to shout about.

Ericsson T768 flip broke.
Nokia 9210 drop one time the hinge totally gone, had to change casing.
On top of that the ribbon also worn out twice.

Flip phone is bad in engineering design but designer inpirations rides all over the decision. In engineering world, people will tryt o minimize the movement parts as the general rules of thumb, moveable joint will get loose in one day. So simple theory.
