It might. All they need to do is share the same platform/resources for the transmitter/receiver. Low cost upgrade to GSM.

yeah... lower cost for upgrade is definite. but though i felt that it cannot be related to the reason of good coverage.. but rather a advantage for Celcom.

Actually all the telcos are crap. Used them all, and the best part is, they are never that reliable or available when you need them most.

As to Maxis having the largest subscribers base, well, its because they pay the most commision to the phone dealers for every sucker signed up. That way, its in their interest to promote Maxis.

And contrary to all the bs they are saying in regards to 3G etc. they have still yet to resolved the line drop, no line, crap line situation, which is what most consumers want from their mobile.

Until then, I guess its to each his/her own. Cheers. just my 2 cents worth.

yeah celcom might not be the best and might not have the most subcribers. but what i reallize no other telco can provide the most reliable service. i just like to compare celcom and maxis. celcom sms system is very reliable and sms sent and arrive immediately compared to maxis that some times lag. and one more time, for a few years since i started using mobile phone (and all those time i was with celcom up until now), there are two major days and occasions where maxis will loose to the max to celcom, new year and merdeka day. during these two nights, it very difficult to be contacted and to contact if u are using maxis. just for an example, the last 31 august, i was sitting around sending sms, i sent 20 sms in 15 minutes (one shot) with celcom, but when i turn around, i can see people that are using maxis, (not to say using digi, time or whatsoever), the alert tone (tet, tet, tet) on their phone never stop, just because they are failing to send their sms. i just smiled and i knew, all those earlier 6 years, celcom gained experience that other telcos will never gain. and, celcom lost to tmtouch because tajudin ramli had lots of hutang with his other business, not only with celcom, and i believed he used lots of money from celcom to pay his hutang. i am gonna see, how the power of tmtouch and celcom will make the other telcos suffer. and yes, in sabah sarawak please la don't tell me other providers beat celcom coverage they because yes too, it's their former 010 technology upgraded that made their coverage in sabah sarawak most superior. hehehe :) [Celcom + TM Touch ] = One Big Major Company, [Maxis + TimeCel] = You Get Nothing (what can Time offer to Maxis?), DiGi = DiGi?¿

don't know about other people. i've been with celcom since 010 days and my 010 number was converted to 019. around 10 years already. and other members of my family use celcom too. nothing wrong with them.

well sorry to say most of my friends using celcom. lots of them using maxis too. all also almost the same. got friends using timecel to. doesn't matter. i dun work for celcom either. do you? anybody here? :)

well... what you all are missing is that the 012 number is like an image thing... if your friends are all 012 ... its not easy to go and buy a 019 number.

Also, now Maxis has 2 mStyle plans, mFlex and mStyle plans, where there's no access fee. very attractive to the average working person. Celcom still hasn't anything like this.

All said and done, I stick with Celcom, coz I've never had 'no service' even in Brinchang (Cameron Highlands) where everyone else can't even get a signal ! :)

The best content service goes to DiGi as DiGi also positioned themself become the content supplier when the 3G come to May be end of this year using NOkia EDGE protocol.

Aiya pager still the best..... FM frequencies.... low cost and too bad they don't have two way messaging like US... or else the market might change as well.

Last word... we are Malaysian that always praise the Brand Name that looks good eg: MAXIS.

At early stage the Maxis penetrate in the Market by Hoo hahh they have satellite, and most of the people think Maxis using Satellite then the line should be working perfect..... me also fall in this category too. In others way round is call trick and cheat business promotion tactic. Same to TM touch as well.

The Maxis also make a handsome amount of Lucarative and rich levels personnel using their service, this also make a good image for many people think that MAXIS = RICH.

FYI: DiGi loyal user. No problem for me with this TELCO. They providing best service for me, since long time ago.

hmph i picked maxis because last time..there's one period when the celcom service r hard to get thru..besides that..their service was lousy....thats all i need to say...so far i got very good experience with maxis n digi customer service but not 013 n celcom

compared with 019, can go 013+019 = 4 bars, if 019 tadak signal i ma go 013 lorr...

i tot can roam 017+012...but i am so dissappointed...they shut 1800MHz 017 down...where my hse got great 017 (4 bars), now with LOUSY 2 bars 012 MAXIS COVERAGE

Celcom is the best. I have friends coming from Indo, Thailand, Singapore etc. When i look at their phone, they usually roam with Tmtouch or Celcom automatically. It shows the phone wouls also prefer the strogest signal. Hardly see Maxis or Digi on their phones.

maxis very weak in Jln Klang Lama (Taman Sri Sentosa) area. Sucks. In KL I'd expect a decent signal. Even along the expressway near Batu Tiga and around the Shah Alam KTM station, signal very weak. Hard to sms. Had to extend antenna of 9210 just to send properly. Celcom full bar in these areas. Haih....

Agree with u. After changed to celcom, no drop call happen and line is 100% more clear than the lousy maxis. The SMS report is consistent, GPRS much more faster and VAS package is brilliant! ;) The only problem that we hardly find non-Muslim consultant and all of them are Malay.

Celcom is the best! Maxis has more customers because they have a very good image building team on their side. Their advertisements basically say, if you want to look cool, use Maxis! But the service is crap!!!

still CELCOM..... only celcom provides full bar (95%) signal strength and nearly 90% signal quality in my house...... maxis? 2-4 bars but voice quality craps!! call dropped somehow after 2-3 mins..... not reliable at all..... DiGi? still ok la.... at least they can maintain constantly 3 out of 5 bars here..... voice quality still can't be very good when u compare with CELCOM..... TmTouch alone? the worst la....

yeap...celcom has exceptionally good coverage in penang (when all the while some ppl was talking maxis good in pg) ...ahaha..... in penang, maxis mmg guarantee will drop call across the bridge.
