i am on the girls side. what la. already planted the seeds and then ask to go for abortion pulak. no responsibilities at all. maybe it's true we can prevent sex before marriage ultimately, but once get pregnant, never ever throw away the baby or go for abortion. one thing is the baby is a living human and should not be killed, and one more thing, abortion is very very very very dangerous, if the girl survives the abortion, then she might get long-term simptoms. ya lah, for men easy only, got money can ask the girl gor for abortion, but the girl is the one that needs to tanggung all the pain and suffer. i say no to abortion. very bad bad thing.

sometimes, its because of SOCIETY perception that drives them to do the extremes...for example, an ill educated girl, would be so afraid to face her surrounding society, if they are the kind that will badmouth a single mother, or maybe there is no finances help or support for her....

so, it takes two to tango, but lots of abortions ( those illegals one) and dumping of new born babies are done by very young girls who may not be out of their teens yet.....

well, if we want to stop all these, we can try to help. First, we must change the public perception of a single mother. Education is more important than censorship (e.g. the scene of Sandra Bullock kissing Keanu Reeves in Speed, shown on TV recently, was snipped but the scene of the bad guy stabbing a security officer in the head with a knive was allowed!). It's better to explain to the children what's happening & WHY than to pretend it doesn't exist.

i m a volunteer wif such people...they are actually people with learning difficulties...but most of them are retarded to a certain extent... there is one lady who is nearly 50 yrs old but she has the mentality of a 6 year old... always picking fights with everybody else & demanding alot of attention from us. having been around them for more than a year now (tho we only see them like once a month when they have their activities), i realized that they are also ppl who need love & care. some of them have parents who don't quite understand why they were handed a kid like that, & it shows in their behaviour whenever they come for activities.

these ppl r actually very gentle... tho we have had some extremely violent ones... have learned that if u show them just a little bit of attention & care, they respond well to u. & frankly, i think its much easier to please these kids than it is to please a normal child who makes more demands as soon as previous demands are met...

we also have one chap who is handicapped... he cannot walk... polio victim. he's very slow & he's also very kiddy... but i learned a great deal of patience with him (cos u need LOTS to deal with him cos of his slowness)... not everybody shuns handicaps... those who do are probably just waiting to become handicapped themselves so that they can realize what it feels like to be insulted by more able-bodied ppl.

if the child is deformed...it could be due to the parents themselves. certain drugs can cause deformities...no matter what, the child is still faultless. it is up to the parents to decide. they will have to live with their own guilt for causing the child to be in such a condition.

church runs a day training center for such people on a 2x weekly basis... they have proper lessons & stuff during this time... something like a proper school thingy. i volunteer at their once-monthly activity day which is called "social club" (where these people come to socialise)...they only have arts & crafts & outings during this time.
