i am on network at my universiti.
morning, my ip range is blocked for using the internet. but if i go to library or computer lab. internet can be used.
any way to bypass it. can we use different ip ? i tried , but when i use the ip which is same as the computer lab. the system wont connect to the server at all. this must be because of the router. so any idea ?

May I know what's the IP and netmask for ur PC and the PC in library/computer lab ? R they in the same subnet ? Can u ping each other ?

1st of all, can u confirm that 10.124.x.x range of IPs are bar from using http port in firewall settings ?
What is the exact netmask value ? When u ping from 10.124.x.x to 10.115.x.x, do u need to get thru any gateway ? Try do a traceroute from 10.124.x.x to 10.115.x.x to find out. Scare will be a firewall in between 10.124.x.x and 10.115.x.x. If there is no firewall between these 2 PCs then things will much easier.
Try download Proxy+(http://www.proxyplus.cz) and install it in 10.115.x.x(PCs in lab/or library). In ur PC's web browser set the proxy config to that PC's IP(10.115.x.x).

1) U got to confirm whether the FW really block ur PC's IP from using http port. If yes then u can't use ur IP to browse. If not then try to configure the gateway and DNS which is similar to the PC in library/comp.lab. Also check is there any setting at the proxy portion in the browse on the library/comp.lab PC. If there are proxy configured in those library PC then configure ur PC's browser according to that.
2) Let say the FW really block ur IP and u wanna use one of the IP from comp.lab to put into ur PC then make sure there is no conflict(only one on at a time). Once u've done that and there is no conflict. Do some configuration at the TCP/IP protocol property and browser's config.
Try use some simple traceroute/ping/telnet program to do some simple troubleshooting. Good luck.
I doubt you could configure anything at all....
All but the lousiest admins would allow you to tweak anything on their machines....
Take note of machines with ezy-reboot cards too...
i tried to change the setting. the gw , ip address but after that i was unable to ping the dns server also. so what cauld be the problem ?

We gotta know how does the network structure looks like otherwise nothing much we can offer here.
