Grisoft AVG or Norton? [Archive]

Anyone using AVG antivirus lately? I think the people at Grisoft are getting better and better. Somehow I found this particular software to use less resources than Norton. Any suggestions?

phew... i thought i was the odd man out. glad to know someone like avg as well. :)

saved my ass a few times when i downloaded some progs with worms attached, using kazaa. i think people should just change to avg instead of going for the resource-hungry norton's range of products... ah well.. just my humble opinion... :D

I'm using it...It's good and reliable... And also use less resources

loading time is slow with 128 ram if u have more ram this problem won't exist!

pennywise free edition of coz u can download from their website but for pro edition download is not available so you need to find the other channel keke :p

I'm using AVG free edition and very happy with it, it use less resources than Norton and Mcafee, also it virus database always updated, and the best thing is easy to update.. can be automatically.... btw never tried PRO version, I heard that if we use cracked AVG PRO we cannot download the latest updates... is that right?

free edition is good enough but it didn't scan the mail for ie express coz the plugin only support ie 5! ;)

Oh, so means it doesnt work with WinXP Pro's Outlook Express??? Are you sure? If so, it really suck then. How do you expect me to check my Streamyx mail when it doesnt work with Outlook Express??? I could've get like 100 viruses per day.

Are you sure?? I'm using AVG and WinXP Outlook Express, in fact my outgoing email all scanned by AVG, I assume incoming also lor....

that is weird. but maybe so. i cannot check on this. i use outlook and avg scan both incoming and outgoing.

hello pennywise. free edition is good enuff. at least for me. i'm using 56.6k modem and access the internet for about two hours daily. so far, it works great. update is reliable as well. :)

and while we are at this, i had the misfortune of testing the latest avast!. it su**s! slow down the computer and seems to be filled with bugs... just for your info. :)

What is AVAST!???? Errrrr... so sorry cause I've been with Norton Antivirus so long that I didnt know anything about any other antivirus softwares...

Maybe I'll check out for the FREE edition tonight, download later on.

between avg and avast!, then i'll recommend avg. it's free (free edition) and does not drain too much resources. forget avast!.

Me using FREE edition no problem so far.. use small resource... even I can scan the whole disk while playing games or browse internet... I think its a light program

The free edition is the AVG 6.0 lite. It is not a full fledge 6.0 . I have been using it since the was highlighted in intech some months ago. so far so good. For the first line of defence it is still NAV. the other PCs connected to this is protected by the AVG free edition.

AVG just released an upgrade to the free edition. If your signature is less than 516, you have to update to 516 then follow by the new signature updates.

yupyup! 7.0 is on trial basis. download is pretty fast. and you can update anytime you want. update is pretty frequent too, about once a week or so. patch available... :p

You mean 7.0 is downloadable??? The FREE TRIAL one from the www.grisoft.com website is the 6.0. Can you tell me where I can get the 7.0? Is there any key generator or crack for it?

but the truth is this pennywise ...

ever since Grisoft launced 7.0 pay-version, the UPDATE file for 6.0 Free-Edition as it is known now is not updated as up-to-date as the full-version ...

Secondly the Free Edition does not GUARANTEE protection against all types of Trojans / or malicious codes as opposed to the 7.0

In case if u want to know, I'm authorized in Malaysia to sell the AVG products ... :rolleyes:
