i screwed up myself on this ....

i had Win-ME previously with HD C:\ (primary master) as FAT32.
then i added a new HD (2ndary Master) and format/installed Win-XP from CD-ROM under NFTS ...

Now i have dual-boot system ... meaning Win-ME & Win-XP ...
Why ? ... becos' i'm still uncomfortable with Win-XP yet ...

Now the problem ...
if i start up with Win-ME ... i cannot access the new HD (b'cos it is in NFTS ...
if i start up with Win-XP ... i CAN access all the HD ... but i need to reinstal some of the program which is under Win-ME ...

what a louzy and careless f'ker i am really ...

u all better think twice which one to use ...

good luck ......

Actually NTFS and FAT32 on WinXP is about the same. The stability of the OS itself is good without having to depend which platform format you're gonna use.

If you want more security, like you're sharing your computer on a network or among friends in a STUDENT HOUSE, then NTFS.

If you're a gamer, a not so good gamer who uses TRAINERs, then FAT32. I know a lot of ppl uses FAT32 because of this trainers thingy. I used to be one of them but then I use NTFS now and gave up gaming on computer.

If cheats like Warcraft III, just hentam and type the magic word still can but if Trainers, then cannot liow with NTFS.

I could feel NTFS was running bit slower on a slow machine of around 400mhz, but the difference was not much...

Better use NTFS unless u need to use Win9x...

If use are using WinXp, better use NTSF if you wanna to turn "on " feature on "disable private folder" if it's multi user PC.
This feature can't be activate if you use FAT32.
Disadvantages of NTSF is you can't convert it to FAT32 once your drive is fix. Unless you fdisk it again.
While FAT32 can convert to NTSF at any time.

I think NTFS doesn't frag so much. I'm not sure though, but it does seem as if the files don't fragment so much with NTFS.

NTFS is always superior to FAT32...imagine no scandisk after bad shutdown...

hoho.. i got this info from PCMagazine
it said that if you're using Win ME it's better to use NTFS
